Purchasing lead responsible for the development and execution of commodity strategies. Working closely with the key business stakeholders the Lead Commodity Buyer will develop and implement effective cost reduction strategies and leverage extensive market knowledge to drive lower cost of ownership. The Lead Commodity Buyer will also proactively identify areas of opportunity for process improvement, cost efficiencies and be responsible for creating and implementing roadmaps to achieve cost savings and manage economic forecast.
Position:Buyer Commodity
You will be responsible for
Lead cross functional teams to establish, execute and implement commodity strategies
Responsible for supporting all due diligence required with future M&A activity.
Drive alignment of commodity initiatives throughout purchasing team members and cross functional leadership
Contract negotiations with key suppliers
Introduce and implement (as needed) tools such as should be cost modelling in order to enable reduction in the total cost of ownership
Support in the coaching and development of buyers.
Drive application of key market dynamics and commodity trends including raw materials to validate cost competitiveness and global impact where applicable.
Manage supply base with respect to their ability to provide products and services in accordance with the organizations business requirements, cost parameters, terms and agreements.
Drive supplier business reviews focused on strengthening long term strategic relationships.
Manage the resolution of critical supply chain issues and maintain supplier relationships.
Budget development and execution
Support global programs, strategies and initiatives
Develop relationships with key internal and external customers
Additional duties and reporting as assigned
Requirements
Education and Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management or Related Field
Specific experience related to plastic injection molded components and resin procurement. Cost modeling experience preferred.
5+ years’ experience in purchasing, commodity strategy development required
Prior experience leading teams involved in negotiations
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems.
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence others.
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
