      • Build backend APIs in a self-sufficient delivery team that ships code to production frequently

You will use renowned SRE principles and practices originating at Google and the best practices of AWS to design microservice-based applications for fault-tolerance, auto-healing, resilience, security, and reliability in collaboration with service developers. Also, you will be responsible for the effective operations of these services in Production. It includes defining SLOs, enriching customer-facing SLAs, improving observability, and failure management.We've been experiencing massive growth in the last couple of years and we're looking to scale our infrastructure by 3x each year. Shelf is used by many large enterprises and your job will be to make sure they receive excellent uptime and the best possible user experience.We strive to invest at least 50% of SRE time into engineering. Of the remainder, no more than 25% can be spent on-call, leaving up to another 25% on other types of operational, non-project work.We’re looking for someone who has:
      • 3+ years in a technical role with a focus on SRE/DevOps practices
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)
      • Extensive experience with AWS Cloud and automation and configuration management tools like Terraform
      • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Datadog, Kibana, etc)
      • Technical expertise in distributed systems, networking, and security

      • Write code (primarily in Node.js and Python) to automate operational tasks
      • Set the plan for development teams to improve the availability, latency, and efficiency of services, establish a blueprint for service alerting & monitoring and enable teams to implement it
      • Consolidate existing backups and enrich them with consistency checks, recovery procedures
      • Collaborate with the Shelf Security team to resolve incidents impacting the availability of Shelf service
      • Enhance multi-region backups, perform respective data migrations and improve disaster and
      • recovery strategy
      • Improve observability using RUM metrics and utilizing Datadog functionality
      • Improve service performance by applying various techniques like compression and caching
      • Improve reliability by implementing a robust multi-region strategy, establishing SLOs, enhancing customer SLAs, and effectively using AWS means like autoscaling
      • Engage with the customer-facing teams to understand SLAs and improve service quality, help troubleshoot production incidents
